About Liz Brown

Elizabeth became a window dresser, working for Sanders in Salisbury and in Bulawayo (Rhodesia) Zimbabwe, and then for Stuttafords in Cape Town. Whilst being a farmer’s wife and mother she found time to design and paint theatre sets, carry out exhibition work. She started the Harare Patchwork and Quilting Guild, and qualified as a patchwork and quilting teacher. (NQACT) USA.

Elizabeth went on to become a knitwear designer and more recently, digitised embroidery on a computer for industrial machines. Her great love is researching and creating ecclesiastical designs and her works include fifteen wall hangings in St Elizabeth of Hungary, in Belvedere, Harare, and one at St Aldhelm’s, Swindon, England. In 2010, she completed a wall hanging for the chapel for British Forces in Helmand, Afghanistan.

There are also two exquisite wall hangings which grace the Baptistry of St Mary's Priory Church, 20 feet long by 40 inches wide. There is St. Edmund in a Church of that name in Crickhowell. And finally, one of Bernard Mizeki in Aldershot (a travelling banner)

All these wall hangings can be found in the Gallery section of this website.

The money raised from commissions all go towards building a Community Centre on Wahadi Farm, Mazabuka Zambia. Here are a few pictures which shows the Centre's progress.
